Lewis and de Kock Shine as LSG Chase Down 211
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered their first win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season on Thursday, March 31, defeating defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets in their 7th match of the tournament. Chasing a daunting target of 211 set by CSK, LSG openers Evin Lewis and Quinton de Kock played brilliant knocks to guide their team to a comfortable victory.
Lewis, who was playing his first match of the season, smashed a quickfire 55 off just 23 deliveries, including six fours and three sixes. De Kock, on the other hand, played a more patient innings, scoring 61 off 45 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. The duo put on a 76-run opening partnership to set the platform for the chase.
Second Straight Loss for CSK
The defeat was CSK's second consecutive loss in the tournament, following their defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous match. The defending champions have now lost three out of their first four matches of the season and are languishing at the bottom of the points table.
LSG, on the other hand, have now won two of their first four matches and are placed in the top half of the table. They will be looking to build on this win and continue their winning momentum in the tournament.
