Breaking News: Major Earthquake Strikes Japan

Epicenter Near Fukushima, Tsunami Warning Issued

Magnitude 8.9 Earthquake Rocks Northeast Japan

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 8.9 has struck off the coast of Japan's Fukushima prefecture. The epicenter was located near the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which was damaged by a tsunami in 2011. A tsunami warning has been issued for the entire Pacific coastline of Japan, as well as for coastal areas in Russia, China, and the Philippines.

The earthquake caused widespread shaking and damage across northeastern Japan. Buildings collapsed, roads buckled, and power lines were downed. There are reports of injuries and deaths, but the full extent of the damage is still being assessed. The government has activated its emergency response system and has dispatched rescue teams to the affected areas.

The tsunami warning has sparked fears of a repeat of the devastating tsunami that killed more than 18,000 people in 2011. The government has ordered coastal residents to evacuate to higher ground and has urged people to stay away from the coastline.
